Sometimes, life can get very difficult where it is not easy to trust God. Whenever life gets difficult, the best way to approach the problem is to first pray about it and let God handle it.
Reasons to pray:
1) Prayer is communication with God
Prayer is a form of meeting with God. It is better to start the day with prayer seeking God’s will for the day and asking Him for direction. When we start the day with prayer, we are starting the day staying in God’s will which will guard and guide us.
Psalm 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
2) Prayer is to have God’s will in our lives- The Lord’s prayer
Jesus taught the Lord’s prayer to his disciples when they asked him how to pray. The Lord’s prayer teaches us to pray for God’s will in our lives.
Matthew 6:10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
1 John 5:14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
3) God’s direction
When we pray for God’s direction, he will definitely guard us and guide us and show us His will.
Psalm 25: 4-5 - "Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."
4) Praising God for past faithfulness- testimony and prayer journal
Having a prayer journal will help us in realizing how God answered our prayers in the past. Documenting the prayer request and the date it was answered will help us realize his faithfulness and over time, the journal will become a testimony of our lives.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Psalms 119:90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast.
5) Prayer produces peace
When we pray about a difficult situation, God gives us a peace which is beyond human knowledge.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
6) Prayer can do something that is not humanly possible
The Bible is filled with stories where God has done miracles. When we pray, God always surprises us.
Luke 18:27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
Genesis 18:13-14 Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
