Nothing exists by itself unless someone produces (create/compose/originate/develop) it. This is no great mystery yet some do not accept it. If you ask any achiever or to anyone after their accomplishment, they will have their word to say how they had worked for it. Even in Christian sphere some times, few fail to consider the action part. Earth was without form and void and darkness was in the face of the deep. God spoke to create a beautiful world in six days! God worked these six days. Today’s focus would be on what we might miss to take action upon. (Genesis 1:2)
Labour for good – By a man of understanding and knowledge right will be prolonged (Proverbs 28:2)
If this cannot be understood directly, try this rewording: Right cannot be prolonged by itself; but unless a man of understanding and knowledge act on it. This could help us to realize, what one should labour for. This is a very useful proverb for those in social and political work, there are many chances for challenges from the past to the present. Best example was the abolishment of slavery; if you dig deep the roots, you will see Godly people having worked on it.
When God created Adam, he had a work for him. It was not that he could eat from the garden as it grows and expect the earth to yield fruits and vegetables automatically. God needed a man to till the ground, to tend it and to keep it. Thus it confirms that to labour for something good is Godly thought. In a way, God loves us to be occupied, creative and to be satisfied with the outcome. God was pleased and enjoyed his work seeing in perspective ‘it was very good’ especially on the sixth day, after creating man and woman. (Genesis 1:31, 2:5, 15)
Renew and transform – Hear my son, and be wise; and guide your heart in the way. (Proverb 23:19)
Beautiful proverb listing three actions hear, be wise and guide. Hear my son, and be wise; and guide your heart in the way. Particularly it is easy to miss the last bit “to guide/to apply”. Paul has mentioned of the renewal and transformation of the mind, which is very vital for Christian life. To me, “to guide/to apply” means is to “renew and transform”. Working on these also help in aligning to the will of God. Paul had spent 3 years studying scriptures, your growth does not exists by itself, one should labour to understand and apply from the learning. (Romans 12:2, Galatians 1:11-18)
Words of your mouth – Death and life are in the power of your tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit (Proverbs 18:21)
There is another great work of God to restore the fallback caused by Adam. Jesus being the last Adam, became a life giving sprit. This is a great salvation plan, much benefited and experienced by many and there is an action part associated with it, yet few might not know it. The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation. (I Corinthians 14:45, Romans 10:8-10)
Paul quoted about confession of our mouth from Deuteronomy. Where it has been stressed to be used rightly having provided the choice to choose life and death. The action suggested is to “choose life”. According to the proverb, it is the choice you can make – Death and life are in the power of your tongue. Hence nothing exists by itself, the words you sow will reap you good or bad things, so as the choice made for salvation, which was indeed a good choice, speak right words positive to create a good life. More details of salvation plan is explained in Paid in Full. (Deuteronomy 30:14, 19)
Therefore let us conclude, we ought to labour for good to make things better within us and with our associations by renewing our mind, transforming ourselves blended with right confession of our mouth. Be blessed wherever you are and in whatever you do! Forget not the action part. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him, will have an everlasting life. (John 3:16)
