When GOD is with you (part 2)

In the last blog, I showed various biblical reference of how many experienced, witnessed and also some were appreciated mentioning the fact ‘how God was with them’. In this blog, would like to walk through an incident that happened in Shushan the palace in the city of Susa may be around 475 BC. Susa was a great city when Persia was kind of superpower and was with all riches and splendour. Susa was the capital and administrating 127 provinces from India to Ethiopia, people of different race and language. Many years before Jews were taken captive to Babylon and then Babylon was conquered by Persia. While some had chance to return to homeland, few stayed in the foreign lands. King Ahasuerus (Xerxes I) was ruling from this palace and Esther a Jew was the queen by then. (Esther 1:1, 2:17,18)

One night the king was disturbed and could not sleep. We will see why and how God used Mordecai for a great plan by being with him. Mordecai was a Jew and could have some role in the palace, while Haman was a Jew’s enemy and had some grudges with Mordecai.

Haman was promoted in Shushan and king Ahasuerus was close to him and therefore Haman’s thoughts were easily acknowledged. He had a plot to remove all Jews tactically citing on unique traditions, but it was all because of his indignation with Mordecai. (Esther 3)

It’s God’s way to make provision for his people in crisis. The very night before Haman was to request the life of Mordecai and other Jews, God was working invisibly to save His chosen nation. He caused no sleep to the king and he became interested in the record book of the kings. It was found that Mordecai had revealed an assassination plot and the honour was long due. King decided to do something to show his appreciation. (Esther 6:1-3)

Next day, king honoured Mordecai through the words and hands of Haman and then king and Haman had to meet in the banquet which queen Esther prepared for the second day. King was interested in queen’s petition and this time queen spoke: “If I have found favour in thy sight, O king and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request: For we have been sold, my people and I, to be destroyed, to be slain and to perish. Had we been sold as male and female slaves, I would have held my tongue.” King was furious and asked ‘who is he?’ Esther pinpointed Haman and told his wickedness to his face. “The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman”. Then Haman was hanged on the gallows that he prepared for Mordecai and Mordecai was honoured not only with a royal ride but also with a royal position. (Esther 7)

While Mordecai did his best efforts to save the lives of Jews, God did the best for his life and for his people. If you are with God, you are part of his great plan. There is no end without victory, though it seems to be a dead end, it would be a mirage; the journey will continue!

If you need to experience you need to commit your ways to the Lord and acknowledge him in all you do, so he will establish your thoughts and your path. May you have victories and failures don’t seem to be an end. May you experience the rest as Mordecai had and wait upon the Lord as Mordecai did. Jesus said “My yoke is easy and my burden is light”. (Proverbs 3:6, 16:3, Psalms 37:5, Matthew 11:30)
